Stephen has 15 years’ experience in the electricity sector, including wholesale markets, portfolio and risk management, market design and transmission. His management experience in business planning, operations, and strategy analysis is complemented by being a specialist modeller in the field of decision-making under uncertainty. He typically provides advice on the selection and design of analytical approaches as well as validation, interrogation and how to integrate those approaches into business decision-making.

Stephen holds a PhD in Operations Research from the University of Canterbury, and has significant expertise in teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and industry level.
