Dean has extensive experience in the electricity and gas sectors in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, including in commercial, risk management, finance and regulatory roles for retailers, generators and large energy users. Before joining Sapere, he spent eight years at British Gas in the UK.

Dean’s skills include financial forecasting and modelling, regulatory and competition policy, and market dynamics. He is particularly interested in customer behaviour and the impact that market structure and regulatory policy have on customer competition and engagement.

Dean graduated with a BCA (Hons) in Economics, and a BSc in Chemistry from Victoria University of Wellington, where he also tutored in the School of Economics.
